The organization advances music teaching and learning through professional development, collaboration, student enrichment, and a commitment to artistic and pedagogical excellence.

Competition
Tennessee Music Teachers Association hosts an instrumental competition every June.
The local auditions will be held on Saturday, April 3rd, 2027, at Rust College in Holly Springs, MS.
The state competition will be held on June 5th & 6th, 2027, at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), Murfreesboro, TN.

Continuing Education
Every year, we host quarterly programs to inspire and rejuvenate our teachers.
July 14th, 2026, Technique Master Class hosted by Jama Reagan from the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN. At Lane Music Store in Germantown, TN.
Tuesday, October 20th, 2026, at 11:00a.m., Amy Chambers will give a presentation on simple marketing and strategies to help students find you and running your studio easier. At the home of Paula Ward.
Tuesday, January 12th, 2027, at 10:00a.m., Adam Booher will give a presentation on using music theory in lessons. At Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, TN.
Tuesday, May 11th, 2027, at 11:00a.m., Maeve Brophy will give a workshop on female and minority composers. At the home of Lisa Ramirez.
One of the most special aspects of our organization is our friendships with each other and our supportive network that we share.
